Voima was thoroughly renovated at Wärtsilä Helsinki shipyard in 1978–1979. Voima's old bows, bottom plates, bow spike, shafts and propellers remain. During the refit, Voima received new ice reinforcement plates on her sides, new main engines, propeller motors, electrical equipment, accommodation and a new bridge.
